MedAxiom is offering a 6-part course designed to educate clinicians on cardiovascular acute care essentials. The course is aimed at helping clinicians succeed when transitioning from a cardiovascular practice to an acute care setting or from a different specialty to cardiology. The course was developed by Ginger Biesbrock, PA-C, MPH, MPAS, AACC, a physician assistant and university instructor, and Jerry Blackwell, MD, MBA, FACC, a doctor with over 30 years of clinical experience specializing in advanced imaging.<br /><br />The course includes videos, textbook readings, and online learning to cover topics such as chest pain evaluation in the emergency department, managing atrial fibrillation in the ED or hospital setting, ST-elevation myocardial infarction, non-ST-elevation myocardial infarction, congestive heart failure, and acute lower extremity ischemia. The goal of the course is to develop an understanding of the management of common cardiovascular conditions in the acute care setting and review guideline-driven therapies.<br /><br />The course schedule includes weekly lessons with a didactic video followed by assigned readings. Participants will have access to quizzes and instructors for 12 months from the start of the course. The course offers 12 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits for physicians.<br /><br />To participate in the course, clinicians will need internet access with audio and visual capabilities.
