Acute Care Cardiovascular Essentials for Advanced Practice Providers

COURSE OVERVIEW

COURSE DESCRIPTION

This six-part course is designed to educate clinicians on cardiovascular acute care essentials. Whether a clinician is shifting from a cardiovascular practice to an acute care setting or is transitioning from primary care or another specialty to cardiology, this course will help them succeed. It was developed by Ginger Biesbrock, PA-C, MPH, MPAS, AACC, a physician assistant and university instructor, and Jerry Blackwell, MD, MBA, FACC, who has more than 30 years of clinical experience specializing in advanced imaging. By the end of this course, you will earn a total of 12 CME credits.

The course incorporates video, textbook and online learning to cover these essential cardiovascular acute care topics:

Module 1: Chest Pain Evaluation in Emergency Department
Module 2: Managing AF in the ED or Hospital Setting
Module 3: ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction
Module 4: Non ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction
Module 5: Congestive Heart Failure
Module 6: Acute Lower Extremity Ischemia

While this course is designed to take six weeks to complete, we understand that everyone will be working at their own pace. MEHTODOLOGY

Each weekly lesson has a 20-30 minute didactic video detailing the week’s focus followed by assigned reading and a quiz.

COURSE CREDITS

This is a pass/fail course based on the completion of the six-parts. This course can be done at the student’s own pace. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic each student will have a maximum of 12 months to complete the course material and the course evaluation in order to receive the CME credits and certificate of completion.

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and Policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education through the joint providership of the International Institute for Continuing Medical Education and MedAxiom. Q: Is the course evaluation required?
A: Yes, you must complete the course evaluation after completing all modules to officially finish a course and receive your certificate.

Q: What are the requirements to pass a quiz?
A: You must receive an 80% or higher on each quiz in order to pass and proceed to the next module. If you receive a score under 80%, you need to take the quiz again and receive a passing score to proceed to the next module.

Q: Do courses expire?
A: Yes. Access to the quizzes and course content will expire 12 months after the start of the course.
