COURSE DESCRIPTION
This six-part course is designed to educate clinicians on cardiovascular acute care essentials. Whether a clinician is shifting from a cardiovascular practice to an acute care setting or is transitioning from primary care or another specialty to cardiology, this course will help them succeed. It was developed by Ginger Biesbrock, PA-C, MPH, MPAS, AACC, a physician assistant and university instructor, and Jerry Blackwell, MD, MBA, FACC, who has more than 30 years of clinical experience specializing in advanced imaging. By the end of this course, you will earn a total of 12 CME credits.
The course incorporates video, textbook and online learning to cover these essential cardiovascular acute care topics:
- Module 1: Chest Pain Evaluation in Emergency Department
- Module 2: Managing AF in the ED or Hospital Setting
- Module 3: ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction
- Module 4: Non ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction
- Module 5: Congestive Heart Failure
- Module 6: Acute Lower Extremity Ischemia
While this course is designed to take six weeks to complete, we understand that everyone will be working at their own pace. Please consult with your leadership to determine the optimal completion timeframe for you. Note that access to the content will be available 12 months after the start of the course.

MEHTODOLOGY
Each weekly lesson has a 20-30 minute didactic video detailing the week’s focus followed by assigned reading and a quiz.
COURSE CREDITS
This is a pass/fail course based on the completion of the six-parts. This course can be done at the student’s own pace. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic each student will have a maximum of 12 months to complete the course material and the course evaluation in order to receive the CME credits and certificate of completion.
