COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course is designed for cardiovascular nursing staff with some experience working in general cardiology or cardiovascular ambulatory practices who wish to advance their disease-specific knowledge. This course can also be taken by advanced cardiovascular nursing staff who wish to revisit disease-specific training. MedAxiom's registered nurse (RN) expert Jenny Kennedy leads the course and features imaging expert Jaime Warren, vice president of Care Transformation Services at MedAxiom, as a guest instructor. The course incorporates video, textbook and online learning to cover these essential CVRN topics:
- Module 1: Introduction to Cardiovascular Medicine
- Module 2: Heart Failure
- Module 3: Atrial Fibrillation (AF) and Valvular Heart Disease (VHD)
- Module 4: Ischemic Heart Disease (IHD) and Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD)

COURSE GOALS
For Clinical Staff: This curriculum is designed to immerse nursing staff or RNs with some ambulatory cardiovascular practice experience in disease-specific clinical cardiology care in an outpatient setting – to understand what they are experiencing in the clinics and provide a didactic review of the pathophysiology, symptoms, diagnosis and clinical decision-making.
For Employers or Leaders: This curriculum will help jump-start and support your clinical staff’s on-the-job learning and quantitatively improve their level of competency.

THE METHODOLOGY
Each weekly lesson has a 20-30-minute didactic video providing the content for each week’s focus.

Course Grading
Statement of Grading Approach or Philosophy: This is a pass/fail course based on the completion of the material. This course can be done at the student's own pace. However, each student will have a maximum of 12 months to complete the course material. Students must pass every weekly quiz with a score of 80 percent or above, and the final course evaluation feedback survey in order to receive the CME credits and certificate of completion.
